Your brain is a machine desparate to make you feel good, meaning it will do anything in its power to do that, whether it is correct or not

Keeping all of your thoughts in your head with no where to go is like playing Jenga. You keep stacking all these thoughts higher and higher and it’ll eventually come crashing down. There is no opponent here. There is no winning. There is only the eventual crash, which for knowledge workers is losing track of information. It becomes an unorganized pile where everything looks the same from far away. All disparate pieces with no connections. Let’s build a home with these bricks instead.

This is why it’s important to externalize your thinking, WRITE. IT. DOWN. as they say. This doesn’t need to be through a Digital Garden, but can simply be a journal. This provides a gestalt, an overall view in which to appreciate how thoughts fit together and slow. You are writing a story of thought, when externalizing there’s a want to provide a throughline, this isn’t present within your internal process
