- Words on a paper don’t create accountability without action from us
- There needs to be a public-facing accountability system, like a ticketing system, or a kanban system or something to ensure that more than just you knows about this
- Todos.
- Questions.
- Questions are todos wrapped in uncertainty. Give them definition with a research
- Decisions
- Was this is a decision based meeting?
- Did we come to a decision? Who was a part of it? Why did they make it? Does this meaQuestions are todos wrapped in uncertainty
- Your personal understanding
- Was there a term used you didn’t understand?
- Part of the business you wish to understand better?
- Is there someone you could chat with or somewhere you could explore within the system to understand something better?
- What are the gaps / gains for your personal understanding?
- Historical record
- I question the value of the historical record. Why catalog the back and forth leading up to a decision or an action item?
- It lets us understand how / why we arrived at a decision
- Pros / Cons
- The mindset of why we approached a decision is likely to stay similar and affect other future decisions
- But The Note Vaccuum is real, these aren’t helpful with context and experience
Do they interrupt the pace and take away more value then they add? I think on paper yes, but in reality sometimes it’s the only way I can get a meeting member to respond or talk to me. As in, they don’t answer their messages or emails, so I need a voice call to get a check-in
