The more time it takes for you to turn an underline to a formed thought, the more stale that thought becomes.
Flip open any book you highlighted or underlined and changes are ou’ll either:
- Have underlined too much
- Too little
- Have no memory why you thought this was important
Words you underline are not yours, you simply must write down your thoughts of a text to properly understand.
Too many notes dilutes the entire system. We must only bring ideas into our ecosystem that inspires us. That can help us grow, and that we can use to further create from.
Don't write something down if you can't see yourself returning to it. The longest a buffer between underlining something can bringing it into your system is a day or two. Any longer than that, the source might as well be reconsumed. There is a time-limit to note-taking, but not using your notes.
